Diploma |
After a very energetic twelve months, The Leland Stanford Junior1 University awarded me this diploma, and the State of California followed it with a credential permitting me to teach in the State’s secondary schools and junior colleges.
Having lined up a summer teaching job in Rialto, just west of San Bernardino, we didn’t stick around for graduation but high-tailed it to the bosom of our parents for a summer sojourn, before heading out once again to Massachusetts. 1For you folks in Rio Linda, this doesn’t denote a “junior university,” but rather one that got its name from the martyred son and namesake of Governor Leland Stanford, Senior, distinguished remote predecessor of our own Pat Brown. |
