What with automobile expenses and a local culture that could make a guy feel like an outsider for spending too little, we felt a lot more broke here than in Boston. |
As one of the few Escondidan households without children (at first), Valerie did supplement our finances by babysitting, including some even after Rick arrived. For me, though, there were no
East Compost Desk or
SAT-prep part-timeries to take the pressure off our budget. No time, either, for anything of the sort.
