Esmé & Chester
Esme & Chester (concluded, for now)—When I returned to the States in 1964, Esmé gave me this lovely original “Cumorah.” Not, of course, the big one from the exhibition, but one she’d painted expressly for us, with a dedication on the back that I can’t read with dry eyes, to this day.

I’ll have more to say and show about Esmé and Chester later on, in the context of my second mission to Paris in 1968-69. I didn’t meet the Kieslings until the folks had come and gone in 1963, but both couples lived to become well acquainted; I’ll save some wonderful photos for that section.
