Journal October 25, 1962
Yes, I really was there, and not always behind the camera. One of our comrades kindly shot this one of
Elder Aldridge and me. Not sure why I was moved to stand at attention in this manner…

October 25 (continued)— By the time we got home, I was already running a nasty fever, and I spent all day Monday in bed and miserable, getting up only every fifteen minutes to stagger to the john. At 6 a.m., when the others were supposed to get up anyway, I asked them to administer to me, which they did. That’s the first time I’ve ever received that ordinance. And I credit to that blessing the fact that my fever broke while I slept, Monday night. After a fine night’s sleep, I was able to follow something like a full work schedule on Tuesday. The grippe hung on for twenty-four hours, but now I’m healed, except for a lingering diarrhea that annoys more than it hinders. Lost 3-1/2 kilos through this painful day—which doesn’t do me any harm! Spoke yesterday on the phone with President Hinckley, who says there’s a lot of this [214] going around among the missionaries, and it usually hangs around longer than a day.

Still awaiting Brother Hasoppe’s arrival, with lots of propositions to present to him. He’s really got to accept one of them, this time: our situation is rapidly becoming hopeless.
