August 15 (continued)—In front of the bandstand, the three missionaries are Elders Dan Aldridge, David Halliday, and Dee Peterson. The boys, if I recall aright, are Henri and Jean Daviron.

August 28—It’s all over: the conference will take place at Le Mans. They’ve found a hall there that’ll only cost 4000 old francs. Even though I’d jewed Mr Lecoq-Gadby down to 25,000, the big hats decided to accept the thing [183] at Le Mans. Which doesn’t surprise me much.
