Ames Street |
MIT had sent a lot of literature describing the various living groups. I picked East Campus among the dorms because it advertised single-room accommodations and a tradition of good grades and no discernible partying. They didn’t add that the East Parallel was (and is yet, I hear) the world headquarters of the famous MIT hacking spirit.
Looking southwardish down Ames Street toward East Compost, the Charles, and Boston, you can see “the Pru” in the background. |

Then, in the other direction, northishly from Ames Street’s t-intersection with Memorial Drive, the East Parallel is obvious, but you have to look hard to glimpse the matching West Parallel through the trees and the tennis courts. A rear corner of Walker Memorial appears at far left. |
