Ames Street
MIT had sent a lot of literature describing the various living groups. I picked East Campus among the dorms because it advertised single-room accommodations and a tradition of good grades and no discernible partying. They didn’t add that the East Parallel was (and is yet, I hear) the world headquarters of the famous MIT hacking spirit.

Looking southwardish down Ames Street toward East Compost, the Charles, and Boston, you can see “the Pru” in the background.
Then, in the other direction, northishly from Ames Street’s t-intersection with Memorial Drive, the East Parallel is obvious, but you have to look hard to glimpse the matching West Parallel through the trees and the tennis courts. A rear corner of Walker Memorial appears at far left.
