Descendancy from the Browns |
This is the best picture I can supply, for the moment, with regard to the descendancy of these folks from Worshipful John and Dorothy. The names in boldface correspond to grave locations noted earlier.
Perhaps the most interesting item here is the double entry for our cousins Captain Benjamin Brown (1694-1762) and Keziah Brown (1704-1755). They were full second cousins to each other, having John and Dorothy in common as great-grandparents. The numerous issue of their union (we know of six in Little Neck) are therefore our double third cousins, however many times the generations may remove us. |
You were already aware, I suspect, that Cousin Keziah’s beautiful cognomen, fairly common in our day, particularly among Americans of African descent, means “the spice tree,” in Hebrew. In the Book of Job, Keziah was the second of Job’s three famous post-trial Daughters. |
