Thomas and Mary Browne Willett |
Looking roughly south, we see headstones (in the foreground) and footstones (farther back) for Thomas Willett (on the left, with the veteran’s flag) and his wife Mary Browne Willett. In accordance with custom, each stone’s inscription is engraved on its outer face, away from the grave itself. Guess they didn’t expect those inside to be doing any reading. These headstones therefore face north, to the gradual detriment of the writing on them.
