Phebe and Mary Russell (d. 1736) |
|
In the late summer of 1736, our cousin Captain William Russell’s son Philip (1688-1773) and his wife Sarah lost two young daughters, our 2C9R Phebe (aged 11) and Mary (14). One always suspects smallpox, or cholera, or some such visitation, when siblings die in rapid succession. The same workman’s hand is evident in both fine stones. The girls are buried next to their grandparents, near the earliest Munroe graves. |
