Benjamin Russell (1643-1691) |
This house at 127 Russell Street occupies the site of
Benjamin Russell’s
Indian-resistant homestead.
They’re working on it, but I doubt it would long stand up
to a determined aboriginal assault.
Ruth Wilkins1 adds that the Brandhorst home across the way is No. 122 Russell Street, “…near the spot where there has been such an extensive clump of lilac bushes for more years than anyone now [ca. 1976] can remember.” 1Wilkins, Ruth Chamberlin. Carlisle, Its History and Heritage. The Carlisle Historical Society, Inc. (Carlisle, Massachusetts:1976). Across the street, the Brandhorsts still live at No. 122. |
