Matthew Bridge, Esq. (1650-1738) |
Matthew Bridge, Esq. was Lexington’s first First Selectman, when the Town was chartered in 1712. He and his friend and kinsman-by-marriage the Reverend John Hancock, were among the new town’s leading citizens.
In an upstairs chamber at the Buckman Tavern in Lexington, where the Patriots gathered while awaiting the Redcoats’ arrival, these portraits of Matthew and his wife our 1C10R Abigail Russell hang above the bed. |
