Wheeler Mill, Acton |
Acton’s first inhabitant, and its first major military hero, our distant cousin Captain Thomas Wheeler, operated the community’s first grist mill here, leasing the property for five pounds a year, beginning in 1669. As this map shows, the historic mill was located much closer to the middle of town than our ancestral neighborhood. Never much chance that it would get mixed up with Carlisle. |
