Here’s where Carlisle Road in Acton becomes, of course, Acton Road in Carlisle. Maybe some day I’ll find out what they called this road before there was Carlisle. Billerica Road, Acton, most likely. It ends a mile or so east and north of here, at Westford Road, Route 225, now the main “artery” through Carlisle. Right after the Wheeler homestead, and close to where the Munroes lived… Notice the typical second-growth woods, punctuated by old fieldstone walls that used to enclose ploughed fields |
