2003—Biblical Chankly |
When we first moved in, some of our new neighbors congratulated us on our choice of Woodside Homes to build Chankly. Especially in contrast with the competing Ivory Homes. As we heard it, the area had recently experienced one of its trademark episodes of powerful winds, coming down through the Wasatch canyons from the east. And that some unspecified number of houses recently built by the Ivory folks had ended up flattened and scattered. Scary news.
So, some time later, I was poking through the Old Testament and was amused to encounter, in the final verse of third chapter of the Book of Amos, the following language: And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish…Nobody had told us that Davis County’s distinctive hazards had quite such a classic treatment! |
