The Christmas letter mentions our belated mini-honeymoon, out around New Brunswick. We don’t seem to have preserved many photos, but these from Wiscasset, Maine, evoke memories: a lovely fall-in-New-England tree, on the bank of the Sheepscot River. And the wrecks of the ships Hesper and Luther Little, picturesque enough to induce tourists to stop in Wiscasset, even if the town didn’t also boast a very fine music-box museum.

I’m told that the locals got tired of their trademark wrecks in 1998 and hauled them to the landfill. I’ll resist the temptation to draw political parallels…
