Appendix: Versailles

So what can I possibly add to what others have said about this dazzling, pivotal, cautionary site? Well, maybe a few items:
  • I did visit Versailles, back during my 1963 residence in Paris, both with the folks when they came and also with missionary companions on various Mission Staff errands and as a Diversion Day tourist.

  • Versailles had one of the first LDS chapels in France, constructed under Church auspices by building missionaries such as my beloved Claude and Hubert Leroy. I don’t recall ever going to meetings there, and I lack identifiable pictures of the place, but that may be just my senility talking.

  • A couple of anecdotes deserve sidebars. Now that I think of it, a fairly evocative one belongs back in my account of 1963: I’ll insert it there.
