If you know only one thing about Limoges, you’ve probably heard of Limoges porcelain. Finer, more citified than the
faïence bretonne that Mammy also cherished, it’s lovely in quite a different manner. Mammy was delighted to get to Limoges and to pick up some of its distinctive treasures. I’d sent some modest items of both kinds home to her and to Valerie, back in
1961-2, when I was trying hard to pass as a Breton, and then later in Paris. Never got to Limoges, myself, until 1968.
