Azay-le-Rideau

February 5 (continued)—Our excursion on Monday to Azay-le-Rideau was a magnificent success. This little castle is a true jewel, and we all appreciated it very much. This was an entirely different kind of experience from our visit to Chinon. The latter is an immense, heavy ruin, full of history, whereas Azay is relatively small, in very good condition, of relatively recent date, and more interesting from the artistic point of view than for its history.
