May 1 (continued)—Then we went to the Leroys’ to dine with them and to spend the holiday afternoon in their company. The lunch was delicious, crowned with a chocolate cake surrounded by Jell-O, which I’d given Sister Leroy out of a care-package from home.

Then we went to a nearby open field to play volleyball. Simply perfect.

May 1 (continued)—At six, we had a group-meeting appointment with the Leblancs and their neighbors. All thirteen investigators who came accepted a baptismal challenge. And M. Leblanc was the most receptive of all, even though he’d been very negative, the first time we met with him.
May 3—Sister Daligault said this morning that I now speak French without an accent. I’m afraid she may be flattering me a bit, but it’s always gratifying to hear comments like that.

M. Molina is in the hospital—a stomach rupture of some sort. And Mme Molina was hit by a car the other day. They’re beginning to take the Book of Mormon more seriously, and he absolutely refuses to accept the ministrations of the Catholic clergy at the hospital.
