Nobody said anything for a few moments, and then we asked her how she knew. She replied that she didn’t know, but that that’s how it was. Once she looked at a friend’s little child and found her own vision getting blurry. So she told the mother that the child needed glasses. [65] A few days later, a physician confirmed her diagnosis.

We wasted two and a half hours this evening with a very sweet, intelligent family that turned out to be more Catholic than the Pope. Pity. I was very much impressed with the lady. She’s rejecting a very high and very holy calling that was given to her before this life.

12-19 Alma 15:18–Here’s what we have to do to help new Church members. If we leave them alone, and if they fall into apostasy, will we escape a share in the resulting condemnation? The newly baptized should feel very much at home in our habitations, and they always need the support of our testimony.

17:2-4 is still one of the best collections of wise counsels for missionaries. If we’re always close to the principles expressed there, we’ll surely do our duty.

17:18 Here is our course of instruction at Salt Lake City before coming here!

It’s a day of fasting [66] today, throughout the mission. We were notified of it yesterday, and today we’re making a special effort to find people who are prepared to receive the Gospel.

Tracting this morning didn’t find anything.

This evening, we got the best reception we’ve had from the Leroys since Sister Leroy’s baptism. They invited
