Leola’s first grandchild Rick joined Valerie’s and Richard’s household at Stanford in 1965. She and Duane drove up to meet him when he was brand-new, but we seem to have no photos of the occasion.

Summer, 1966: nearly-year-old Rick accompanies his parents as they move back to Boston. Somebody in San Diego snapped this great shot on Grant’s and Margo’s couch.

Then, Leola and Duane accompanied Richard, Valerie and Ricky as far as South Dakota, where Ken and Verna Carter were serving as missionaries to the Crow Indians.

On the way, they stopped in Ogden, so that Rick could meet his Anderson great-grandparents. With a photo shoot on the grass outside their home at 3905 Fowler Avenue.
