back Leola, Tourist next

Richard, Georgette Leroy, Josette Leroy, Linda Foutz, Leola, docent.
While Duane and Leola were in Paris, the French Mission and the just-created Franco-Belgian Mission held a big Youth Conference in Liége. As the President’s publications guy, Richard was responsible to attend and to cover it for the mission publications.

The folks decided to go to Liége, too, and the President gave Richard permission to make the trip with them in their rented car.
We went by way of Luxembourg, stopping there to see the family of Ernesto Flenghi, an old friend (former prisoner of war) from The Big One. Then we went up through the Ardennes, stopping to pay our respects at the huge American cemetery there.

You can barely discern Leola in this rather shady shot; she’s mostly hidden by the kindly docent who’s pointing out trenches, rusting armaments, and other painful memorabilia.

If anybody can identify the Point of Interest on the next page (or, for that matter, Leola’s blonde companion), we’ll be grateful to be clued in.
