Died April 9, 1833
Æ 84 years.
Great-great-great-great-great-grandpa Oliver Wheeler II,
descendant, married Hepzibah Munroe
in 1773 and fought in the Revolution. Around 1778, as the war wore on elsewhere, the young couple
joined a number of relatives in
settling “Concord End” in Hillsborough,
Two pieces of evidence indicate that Oliver was not far from Concord Bridge on the 19th of April, 1775, when the Redcoats came:
The “Muster Roll of Concord Minute
Men” lists Oliver Wheeler.
In 1875, at observances of the
centennial of the
Lexington/Concord Alarm, many visitors admired relics
including “The sword of Oliver Wheeler of Acton, worn
by him April 19, ’75”
