“Little Ruth” |
It turns out that “Little Ruth” is, at least apparently, Clarissa’s
and Jonathan’s granddaughter, Cousin (5C3R) Ruth C. Ray, firstborn of their son James Milton Ray and his wife Mary E. Murdough.
Little Ruth survived only nineteen June days in 1886. Reading between the lines, one supposes that the surviving parents didn’t have their own burial places picked out. Her Grandpa Jonathan, however, had been in his grave here for only six years, and Grandma Clarissa had preceded him by five. The grouping now seems a lot more natural, doesn’t it? |
