Isaac Perry Decker |
Uncle Isaac Perry Decker (he went by “Perry”), son and namesake of our great-great-great-grandfather Isaac Decker by his wife Harriet Page Wheeler. Here’s the bronze portrait of the almost-seven-year-old Perry at “This Is The Place”. Here’s what the monument in Pioneer Park has to say about young Perry. Here’s his writeup in the Book of Uncles. And here’s the obituary that the Deseret News printed when he died in 1916, aged 75, in the Provo home of his son, Franklin. |
The photo appears on page 56 of Pioneers and Prominent Men of Utah, next to those of his father Isaac, his brother our uncle Charlie (Charles Franklin Decker), and his son Franklin (Charlie’s nephew, also Charles Franklin Decker, who served as Mayor of Provo and in whose home Perry would die). They got his basic facts straight, unlike those of his dad. The engraving appears to have been made from the photo. |
