I’m still actively seeking information on what happened to Grandma Amanda, after Appleton died. Did she remarry, or did she “remain his widow” and keep that land the rest of her own life? Who then got it? How? If she remarried, whom did she marry?

Where’s she buried?

Under what name?

The will specifies the land that he left to her; can we locate in your records the next transaction that involved it? That should answer a lot of the remaining questions.

Again, huge thanks for your friendship and for your help.

Best wishes always, --&E
On Sunday, June 28, he replied:
Dear Andy:

There are two entries about Amanda Stillman in Volume 9 of the Colebrook Land Records. “April 22, 1839, Leonard Gillette purchased for $300.00, …30 acres. This same land given to our mother, Amanda Stillman by our father, Appleton Stillman.”

January 7, 1841, Leonard Gillette purchased from Sylvester Stillman, for $42.00, land…known as the dower estate of Amanda Stillman, deceased.”

It isn’t much, but hopefully might be of some help.

Best regards, Bob
My response:
