Appendix: Dieppe

19 August 1942, the coast of northern Normandy. An assault force of more than 6000 Allied troops tried to seize the port of Dieppe from the Germans. The Nazis won, killing, wounding, or capturing over half of the assailants. Valerie had an easier time on the beach.
