My lovely bride’s characteristic modesty posed a challenge to my inexpert but fervent photographic ambitions: she really didn’t much relish the model’s rôle. Still doesn’t. Her kindness and my persistence prevailed, though, sufficiently to beget a few of what I still consider perfectly stunning images. But then I’m notably partial to both subject and setting; if that be wickedness, and upon me proved, do make the most of it.
Even today, Valerie says she was severely depressed through all this, and that she toughed it out, because I was having such a good time. I’m sure she’s correct (she’s well known as a truthful woman), and that my guilt is only to be expunged by Christian forgiveness on her part and His. Still and all…—and it doesn’t excuse inexcusable me—these are glorious scenes; don’t you agree? |
