Chestnuts and Magnolias |
Until somebody who knows better straightens me out, I remember this gorgeous chestnut-lined version of Beacon Street, looking eastward to the Sieve and Crockery Jar, from my time here 1958-61. The picture below is what we found in 1964. The chestnut population had been under assault from the blight since before the First World War. |
