August 15 (concluded)—Same occasion; behind the parade barriers, two of the same suspects: Halliday (waving) and Peterson.
August 31—I believe we’ll soon baptize André Chaussonnier. His spirit has changed completely of late, after a meeting we held with him on Wednesday. He’s now willing to pay tithing–a remarkable beginning–even before accepting the divinity of the Church! For the Le Mans conference, he’s mounting a cute theater piece, L’École des Joyeux, that he wrote for the occasion and for our SAM (=MIA), and I’m sure that the conference will push him over the edge to baptism. I have a lot to do for the play, since I play the role of the teacher, “Delabrosse Adam”.

I (all by myself!) took the Leroys to the station, where we saw Claude off on his historic missionary journey. Bringing the Leroys back–this time in the company of Elder Guymon, now that we had a place to put him–we witnessed an old homeless woman having some sort of attack. She fell and injured her face rather seriously, but she refused any
Non-Francophones will have to be told that the names of André’s dramatis personae are fairly outrageous and juvenile puns. Mine, for example, is pronounced just like “de la brosse à dents”: that is, “of the toothbrush.”
