Journal November 27-28, 1961

This morning, we’re going to work on the problem of a suitable place to baptize. It’s always a bothersome problem here, where everything belongs to the Catholics, who don’t like us all that much.

Haven’t yet found a place. Tomorrow, we’ll keep looking.

The Peltiers tubed out, this evening. Turns out they were just curious. Too bad; they were very pleasant folks.

11-28 More fruitless efforts to find a baptismal place. Too bad we can’t sprinkle. [44] It’s easy to see why the Catholics resorted to the easy way to get it done.
This fuzzy shot’s from the next year, but it shows l’Étang de la Lande d’Ouée, where we went in good weather to do our baptizing. Needless to say, we didn’t get much good weather in November and December.

Can’t recognize everybody here, but I do see, left to right: Sister Huchet (bent over); Pierre Desquines; Elder Lynn Bennion (very tall: we called him “l’Homme le Plus Long,” after the then-current film “The Longest Day;” probably Jean Fruchet, with his arm raised; Emile Guitton (bald spot, his back to us); the delightful and ubiquitous Elisabeth Renaud and Michel Delétang; then several I can’t see clearly; Sister Le Bras, with Elder David Bennion bent over listening to her; and at far right, Yvon Le Bras.
