Heinrich Fleischer |
Kresge Auditorium sports excellent acoustics and a particularly fine, very modern pipe organ, attractive to many distinguished visiting organists, including Chicago’s Heinrich Fleischer. The Kresge and MIT Chapel organs offered regular schedules of free recitals, on which I would drop in, from time to time.
It never occurred to me to invite a girl to any of these events, until well into my junior year. Nor, for that matter, any of my East Compost cronies of the masculine persuasion. I enjoyed a fair number of serious-music concerts, but pretty much always solo. Guess you’ll have to decide what that reveals about me. If it matters to you. |
