Many of my classmates fit the fraternity pattern better than I. Oliver Smoot, for example, here being manhandled by Peter S Miller, who would become a close friend a decade later at Abt Associates. This piece appeared in the Nov/Dec 1998 issue of Technology Review. Classmate John Sununu, later to distinguish himself in politics, pledged Phi Delt, where I struck out.
