Rex Babb’s class |
These are San Bernardino kids, and I recognize more of them than I can name. Until somebody corrects me, I’ll assert that Gordon Rex Babb, a very close family friend and (early on) neighbor, taught them at the Second and Fourth Ward chapel on Waterman Avenue; he’s the tallest one, third from the left in the back row. Valerie wonders what ever became of Jerry Stickel (spectacles), and I do remember Richard Ririe, the rightmost of this group, in his music letterman’s sweater. |
At Rex’s funeral, a year or so ago, his daughter Barbara assured me that I needn’t feel lonely about the fact that I could never beat Rex at chess. Nobody else ever did, either. |
