Our Uncle Brigham Young of the Twelve Apostles owned a good deal of property in Nauvoo. This (now a major tourist attraction) was his dwelling. |

Mary Ann Angell was the mistress of this house. Between mid-1842, when Brother Brigham entered plural marriage with our own Lucy Ann Decker Seely and early 1846, when he moved on to Winter Quarters, the Temple archives record a good dozen marriages for him. Polygamy was a private matter in those days, though, and the plural wives probably resided separately. Which might account for both Brigham’s and Lucy’s apparent ownership in Block 121. |
