back William and Mary Munroe next
WmMary

My 8th great-grandparents, William (the Immigrant) Munroe and Mary R. Ball Munroe of Cambridge Farms (now Lexington), Massachusetts.

William and Mary lie in honor near the original entrance to the Old Lexington Burial Ground. In 1692, Mary was among the first to be buried there, the year after her stepson John Munroe donated it, then the New Burial Ground, to the Town.

Their love story is among the most dramatic, affecting, scandalous, adventurous tales I’ve ever encountered. I’ve documented it in some detail as “William and Mary: Heroism, Etc., in Pioneer Middlesex.” This family history collection includes the original hypertext version. I’ve also put together a print version and a PDF version, available upon request.
