Find A Grave
Nauvoo2001
Around the middle of June, 2004, I became aware of an organization called Find a Grave and was moved to sign up as a volunteer. Which meant that I began to receive e-mails inviting me to visit local cemeteries and to take photos of the gravestones of people whose families had requested such. Wilford Woodruff Hess, for example, lies in the Farmington graveyard, a few miles away from Chankly. Hess is a big name in Davis County, and the family expressed gratitude for my service.
They still have me listed as a member of their organization with ID code 46923015 and, as of 2020, 12 years’ and some months’ seniority. They credit me on their website (https://findagrave.com)with these contributions: FindAGrave
Can’t say I remember just whom I left a “flower” for. My Virtual Cemetery pulls together a number of ancestors’ sepultures, but I haven’t done anything with it for a while. My totals quit going up, some years ago, since I became too crippled to perambulate the uneven ground of the cemeteries around here. Too bad: it was a strangely satisfying involvement.
