Bartók/Juillard
So, I wrote for my ticket (only one, of course: what was I thinking of?) It came, and I took the MTA across the river to Jordan Hall for the first concert.

I think that was my first visit to Jordan (the New England Conservatory’s main concert hall). It is certainly a principal reason that I return there whenever I can. Juillard and Bartók were both mesmerizing, and I came away with a firm love and the embryo of an understanding of the music.

Nothing could have kept me from Harvard’s Sanders Theatre the next Friday. Not with three more quartets in the offing and one more ticket in hand. Again, I was electrified, confirmed in my conversion, and delighted beyond measure.
