Durgin-Park Dinner Menu
At Durgin, in those days, you could choose among nineteen decent meals without enriching Governor Furcolo in his old age (he lived to 83). In this spirit, most Massachusetts restaurants catering to a modest clientèle offered at least something under a buck.

Durgin’s signature Prime Rib went for $3.95. It was big (slopped over the edge of the plate on both sides) and yummy.

They ran, briefly and only once to my awareness, a promotion to the effect that if you could ingest the entire Prime Rib AND their marvelous Dollar Strawberry Shortcake at a sitting, you could have them for free. No sharing, though…
