back Nauvoo Temple, 2001 back
Temple Viewed from the west, the Temple spire rises above the roof of the Saint Mary Monastery. The monastery has been purchased by the Church; it’s now the Joseph Smith Academy. When we were there, the transfer was still happening, and the sisters hadn’t yet left. Our great-great-grandparents Fisher and their family lived behind (to the west of) this view point and to the left (north).
