back John Ball Inventory, 1655 next
Meanwhile, the estate of John Ball of Concord (our Mary’s paternal grandfather) was inventoried (the document calls him “Bale”) on the 6th of the 8th month in 1655, with a notation that he was buried the first of that month. In old-style reckoning, that would have been October; in new-style, August. I’m never sure which applies to a given document of the period; are you?

The inventory lists nothing very housewifely, suggesting that tenth-great-grandpa John died a widower.
